Ryanair has announced major program cutbacks across Spain. 15 routes to/from Barcelona El Prat and Madrid will be cancelled, as a result of Spanish Government doubles airport departure tax, while 21 routes to/from the Canaries will be cancelled due to “Regional Government of the Canary Islands reneged on its low-cost traffic growth incentive scheme agreement” with the airline. Planned Cancelled Routes: Barcelona – East Midlands Barcelona – Hamburg Barcelona – Leeds/Bradford Barcelona – Trieste Fuerteventura – Cork Fuerteventura – Edinburgh Fuerteventura – Frankfurt Hahn Fuerteventura – London Luton Lanzarote – Eindhoven Lanzarote – Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Lanzarote – Santander Lanzarote – Valencia Lanzarote – Valladolid Lanzarote – Zaragoza Las Palmas – Bratislava Las Palmas – Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Las Palmas – Liverpool Las Palmas – Pisa Las Palmas – Santander Las Palmas – Shannon Las Palmas – Zaragoza Madrid – Almeria Madrid – Ancona Madrid – Bari Madrid – Cagliari Madrid – Dusseldorf Madrid – Eidnhoven Madrid – Frankfurt Madrid – Girona Madrid – Manchester Madrid – Poznan Madrid – Verona Tenerife – Doncaster Tenerife – Knock Tenerife – Porto Tenerife – Zaragoza For flights to/from Canaries, the low-cost carrier will cancel 21 routes – 7 from Las Palmas, 6 from Lanzarote, 4 each from Tenerife and Fuerteventura. 32 other routes will also see service reductions, losing total of 142 weekly flights. JAL has announced extension of planned cancellation of Boeing 787 service on Tokyo Haneda – Beijing route. The oneWorld member previously planned to resume service by Boeing 787 from 01AUG12, but this has been postponed until 01SEP12. US Airways from 27OCT12 is increasing capacity on Charlotte – Rio de Janeiro service, with the introduction of Airbus A330-200 aircraft on this route. This service currently operates with Boeing 767-200ER. Note this service is subject to government approval. DELTA from 28OCT12 is planning to increase Honolulu – Fukuoka winter operation, where it will operate daily service. Previously the Skyteam member planned to operate 6 weekly service.
