During the Easter Holidays Long weekend (06APR12 – 09APR12) in Europe and North America, Airline Route continues to offer latest update on airline network and schedule changes. However, reduced number of posts may occur.
In addition, Airline Route is expected to report Singapore Airlines’ Boeing 747 operation network by late-Friday (06APR12) North America time, as the airline bids farewell to the jumbo jet with special commemorative flight on the same day in Asia. However, the airline will be adding intermediate stop at the Cape Verde Islands on the outbound from Frankfurt, where 1 of 2 weekly each operates to Ilha do Sal and Boa Vista Island. ASIANA Airlines, a Star Alliance member, on 04APR12 issued a brief statement that bmi will end its Star Alliance membership on 18APR12. However, the airline has removed the notice on its main website early Thursday (05APR12) morning, while notice on ASIANA Club appears to be working again. It also tweeted the same news on chinese micro-blogging site weibo on Thursday (05APR12) morning. The European Commission on 30MAR12 approved IAG’s acquisition of bmi from Lufthansa Group, which the deal is expected to be completed by 20APR12. bmi became a member of Star Alliance on July 1, 2000.
