British Airways from 01MAY12 to 26MAY12 is temporary reducing London Heathrow – Hong Kong service, where it’ll operate 14 weekly instead of 17 weekly. The airline will once again reduce to 14 weekly from 03SEP12 to 02OCT12 (previously reported on 28FEB12). Taiwan’s TransAsia Airways is planning to launch Hualien – Wuhan service starting 07MAY12, which operates on Mondays. This would be the carrier’s second route from Eastern Taiwan to China. Korean Air on 28APR12 has resumed Seoul Incheon – Kota Kinabalu service, which operates twice a week on board mono-class Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Previously the airline planned to cancel this service for Summer season. As per 01MAY GDS timetable display, QATAR Airways plans to resume Doha – Yangon service from 03OCT12 with 3 weekly flights. This will increase to daily from 28OCT12, on board Airbus A319 aircraft. Reservation is not available as the schedule was loaded in the GDS within the last 1-2 hours, but not yet appearing in the airline’s inventory system. QATAR last operated service to Yangon on 20JAN08. Schedule: QR618 DOH2105 – 0629+1RGN 319 D QR619 RGN0800 – 1145DOH 319 D From 03OCT12 to 27OCT12, service operates Day 347 from DOH, Day 145 from RGN. As per 01MAY12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Turkish Airlines has received alternate slot for its Istanbul – Guangzhou service for Saturday flight, for the remainder of Summer 2012 season. Departure from Istanbul will be departing at 0900hrs, arriving Guangzhou at midnight. The Star Alliance member has been operating this schedule/slot since late-March 2012, as it is unable to secure afternoon arrival slot at Guangzhou for Saturdays. Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss Air in Winter 2012/13 season is adjusting service to South Asia. Service to Colombo, which was introduced as winter seasonal flight in 2011/12, will not be resumed in 2012/13, after 28OCT12. Service to Male in the Maldives remains twice weekly flight, same as Winter 2011/12, but it’ll operate as nonstop in both direction.
