Update at 1550GMT 24JUN12
As per 24JUN12 GDS Inventory display, Hong Kong Airlines is eyeing  Hong Kong – London Gatwick service reduction from daily to 3 weekly from 01SEP12. Based on the inventory display on 24JUN12 (screenshot below), only full-fare in Club Premier (C Class) and Club Classic (U Class) is available for reservation on 4 of 7 weekly flights from 01SEP12, while the remaining 3 days sees all sub-classes (discounted fares) available for reservation.

From 01SEP12 to 30NOV12, Hong Kong departure is available for reservation in all classes of service (full and discounted fares) on Day 357, London Gatwick departure on Day 146. From 01DEC12, discounted fares are not available for reservation. In addition, traditionally Hong Kong – London market during September and October is classified as “slow season”.

In general, when airlines closing reservation or displaying 0 for sub-classes/discounted fares in the future dates, it translates to service reduction/cancellation being planned for existing route. On 24JUN12, Hong Kong’s “Ming Pao” citing sources from various message board that this route is likely to be cancelled before the end of this year, but was denied by the airline. The airline says it’ll adjust operations accordingly, as a result of adding new destinations in the future.
A separate follow-up update will be posted once additional information is available.
