Ryanair from November 2012 is expanding operation out of Birmingham, with the introduction of following 4 new routes:

Birmingham – Barcelona El Prat 4 weekly
Birmingham – Krakow 2 weekly
Birmingham – Milan Bergamo 3 weekly
Birmingham – Palma Mallorca 2 weekly
With the addition of new routes, Ryanair operates a total of 18 routes from Birmingham this coming winter.

Today (06JUL12) marks the 25th anniversary of Emirates’ service to London as well as Europe. On July 6, 1987, Emirates inaugurated Dubai – London Gatwick on board Airbus A310 aircraft. The airline then started service to London Heathrow in July 1991. To mark the 25th anniversary of Emirates service to London and Europe, the airline today operates Airbus A380 service on EK015/016 flight to Gatwick (reported on 19JUN12).

Emirates on Thursday night (GMT; 05JUL12) adjusted planned Dubai – Hong Kong operation from 31MAR13. The adjustment sees the reversal of previously planned 14 weekly A380 service to Hong Kong. Uruguay’s PLUNA on the evening of 05JUL12 (local time) announced ceasing operation (although it claims “suspended indefinitely”) after the Government has failed to find new investors, starting 1500GMT on Friday 06JUL12. The Government is reportedly to liquidate the carrier and will start a new carrier as successor. PLUNA was founded in 1936.

Emirates is moving forward planned 4th daily Airbus A380 service on Dubai – London Heathrow route from 01FEB13 to 28OCT12. EK007/008 will receive A380 service instead of previously planned Boeing 777-300ER from this date. This flight currently operates with 777-300. From 01FEB13, EK029/030 will switch from 777-300ER to A380 as planned, which marks the airline operates A380 aircraft on all 5 daily flights to Heathrow.
