KLM resumes Rio de Janeiro service in W11 Posted: 15 Jun 2011 02:17 AM PDT KLM starting 01NOV11 will resume Amseterdam – Rio de Janeiro service, a route which it has suspended nearly 12 years (suspended towards the end of 1999). In Summer 1999, the airline operated 3 weekly 747COMBI service on Amsterdam – Rio de Janeiro – Sao Paulo – Amsterdam routing, flight KL793. Xiamen Airlines shelves planned service to Makung, Taiwan due Operational safety concern Posted: 15 Jun 2011 12:44 AM PDT China’s Xiamen Airlines has shelved planned service to Makung in Taiwan, citing “operational safety issues”. On 25MAY11, this site reported that Xiamen Airlines is poised to become First mainland Chinese operator to launch service to Taiwan's Peng-Hu County, known as Pescadores Archipelagos. Originally the airline planned 3 weekly Xiamen – Makung from 30JUN11. 2 weekly Fuzhou – Makung route, which saw inaugural date pushed back from 30JUN11 to 10JUL11, is also canceled. Taiwan’s Peng-Hu County Government argued that scrapping service to Makung is due to “market condition”, as the Government and airport has been extremely cooperative to meet the airline’s operational request.
