Air Asia X Launches RFP for New European Network Expansion in 2012 Posted: 03 Jun 2011 12:43 AM PDT Air Asia X on 02JUN11 issued Request for Proposal (RFP) for its planned European expansion in 2012, as the carrier will begin receiving 5 Airbus A330-200, as well as reallocating Airbus A340-300. Air Asia X issued the RFP via RoutesOnline, a partner of this website, marking the first time an airline issue major RFP via RoutesOnline. Press Release as follows: Low-cost, long-haul carrier AirAsia X has announced the launch of its Request for Proposals (RFP) for the expansion of its route network in Europe. The airline is due to take delivery of five Airbus A330-200s from 2012 and will also be reallocating its existing A340-300s into new markets. It is working with Routesonline to open confidential discussions with airports in this region and from today is inviting airports across the continent to fill out a Pre Qualifying Questionnaire (PQQ) to deem their suitability to meet the basic operational and performance requirements of the airline's aircraft. This is currently only open to the members of Route Exchange, but from June 9 will be expanded to include any other airport. Once airports have met the terms of the PQQ, they will then be sent the formal RFP where they can complete a pre-defined data requirements spreadsheet (mandatory) and a proposal document e.g. presentation or word document (mandatory). Respondents are also encouraged to send through other supporting documents such as tourism videos, endorsements etc. The final deadline for responses is August 1 and by September 1 AirAsia X will have formalised a shortlist of possible new airport partners. "Similar to what has been achieved in Asia Pacific, we are looking forward to painting Europe red,” said Senthil Balan, Head of Network Planning & Regulatory Affairs, AirAsia X. “While we already serve London and Paris, we are keen to maximise the various other route opportunities in Europe and look forward to leveraging the Routes Exchange platform in undertaking our evaluation." "This is a massive endorsement of our product and our standing within the route development community," said David McMullen, Business Development Director – Routesonline. "Route Exchange is the secure and trusted platform for the world’s airlines and airports to trade online." ![]() |
