On 17MAY11, this site exclusively reported UNITED’s plan to re-use flight UA093 and UA175.
The Star Alliance member on Wednesday (18MAY11) issued an apology statement, and the flight numbers has been removed on its website for reservation.
As per 21MAY11 Saturday routing schedule changes,
new flight numbers for the replacement of these 2 flights are UA1703 and UA189 (originally designated for Continental codeshare use), respectively. Travelers making reservation on UNITED website will only see these new flight numbers, and only these new flight numbers will be displayed at the airport.
However, UA093 and UA175 is still displaying in the flight status section of the airline’s webpage, and UA175 is “still available for reservation” for travel agents accessing to UA’s inventory system via GDS on some dates.
Screenshots as follows:

UA175 is displaying on Newark – Orlando sector on 22MAY11. On selected dates, UA175 is appearing on Boston – Newark sector. As a reminder, on airline’s website (see below) and at airport gates & check-in counters, only UA189 is displayed. (Same for UA093′s replacement)

Note UA093 has completely removed from reservation/availability portion of this system, replaced by UA1703. But flight status is showing the info for UA093.

When making a reservation on UNITED website, flight UA175 (previously designated as Continental codeshare) is being replaced by UA189 (UA093 replaced by UA1703)

On UNITED’s webpage, flight status is still showing UA175 (as well as UA093) when one enters these flight numbers.
All information are correct at time this post goes to press 0040PDT/0740GMT 21MAY11. There is a possibility of UA093 and UA175 completely removed several hours after this post appears
